What is Borrowing Cost Capitalisation?
Under IAS 23, borrowing costs directly attributable to acquiring, constructing or producing a qualifying asset that takes a substantial time to get ready for use are added to the cost of that asset. Capitalisation starts when expenditure and borrowing costs are incurred, pauses during extended idle periods and ends when the asset is ready.
