What is Intangible Asset?
An identifiable non-monetary asset without physical substance, such as software, patents, licences or trademarks, controlled by the entity and expected to generate future economic benefits. Under IAS 38 it is recognised when criteria are met, then carried at cost less amortisation and any impairment, or occasionally at a revalued amount.
