What is Interest Coverage Ratio?
A solvency measure dividing earnings before interest and tax by interest expense to show how many times a company's operating profit covers its interest costs. A higher ratio suggests a comfortable ability to service debt, while a figure near one signals that profits barely cover finance costs and that the business is vulnerable to earnings shocks.
